I've not blogged in a while - not had a lot of time.
Since my last entry I've been out a couple of times in the Beacons on the same walk. First time was to recce the route to see if it was suitable for a bunch of lads from the rugby club (most of whom were novice walkers). It turned out to be a very interesting route with plenty of variety along the way. Starting at Abercynafon we walked up onto the Brinore Tramroad, through the disused Torpantau tunnel 9involving a rope climb out of the cutting at the end). Then 'offroad' towards Craig Cwareli where brilliant views of Pen Y Fan greeted us. Across Waun Rydd to the Plane Crash Memorial, and a final detour to Carn Pica before descending back to Abercynafon alongside the waterfalls.
The 2nd walk ended in a dip into the Caerfanell falls. Quite possibly the coldest water I've ever had the misfortune to plunge into! It cost me £53 as well, because my false denture fell out! I stayed in the water searching for it as long as I could until the cold got the better of me.
These photos are from the first walk in January.
