Autumn plans

I've not had a lot of time to blog lately but I've a few interesting outings over the next few weeks that will be worthy of a post or two. First up on Bank Holiday Monday is the Machen Mountain 10k race. I'd heard of this run in recent years but never got around to entering. This year I find myself training for (after having been roped into) the Cardiff Half Marathon in October, so the Machen Race fits in well with my training. Plus, I love running up hills!
I've no idea what time I will do, but I think it will be less than an hour. My best time for 10k was about 15 years ago when I ran 36:10 on a totally flat route. But this run involves 300m of climbing and I'm not necessarily in brilliant shape.

Then, the following Friday (3rd Sept) I'm off to the Lake District with 3 mates for the first time. I cannot wait! We have 3 routes planned over 3 days from our Base in Keswick - Blencathra via Sharp Edge, Scafell Pike from Seathwaite and probably Helvellyn on Sunday via Striding Edge. I'm hoping for decent weather despite the fact that I just shelled out on a new lightweight OMM Kamleika Race Jacket!

Son's first mountain

I took my 2 and a half year old up his first 'mountain' today, and he loved it. Alright, Twobarlwm is not exactly a huge mountain but you have to start somewhere. He loved it, as did our friend's two boys, Joe and Elliott.
